Dear Safarfriendly friends, it feels like every year Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala brings us back to the month most eagerly awaited by Muslims, namely Ramadan. This month full of mercy, forgiveness, and blessings is not just an ordinary month, but a month that holds a very special place in Islam.
The virtues of Ramadan have been emphasized in the Quran and the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Therefore, understanding its evidence and uniqueness will make us even more enthusiastic about maximizing our worship during this noble month.
1. Ramadan: The Month in Which the Quran Was Revealed

One of the greatest virtues of Ramadan is that it is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed. Allah Ta’ala says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185:
“The month of Ramadan is (the month) in which the Qur’an was revealed as guidance for mankind…”
Safarfriendly friends, this verse is the main proof of how great Ramadan is. The Qur’an, as a guide for mankind, was first revealed in this month. So it is no wonder that interacting with the Qur’an—reading, reflecting on, and practicing it—becomes the main practice during Ramadan.
This is why the companions and scholars of the past greatly increased their recitation of the Qur’an when Ramadan arrived.
2. A Month Full of Forgiveness and Mercy

The virtue of Ramadan also lies in the abundance of Allah’s forgiveness and mercy. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, their past sins will be forgiven.” (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
This hadith shows that Ramadan is a golden opportunity to cleanse ourselves of sin. Dear Safarfriendly friends, who among us is without fault? Ramadan is a moment for self-improvement, repentance, and returning closer to Allah.
Another hadith even mentions that during this month, the gates of heaven are opened, the gates of hell are closed, and the devils are chained. How great is Allah’s mercy in this noble month.
3. There is the Night of Power

One of the special features that no other month has is Lailatul Qadar. This night is mentioned in the Qur’an as a night that is better than a thousand months.
Allah says in Surah Al-Qadr:
“Lailatul Qadar is better than a thousand months.”
This means that worship on that night is better than worship for more than 83 years. Safarfriendly friends, imagine how great the reward is that Allah has prepared for His servants who sincerely seek Lailatul Qadar.
Therefore, in the last ten nights of Ramadan, the Prophet ﷺ increased his worship even more, even waking his family to worship.
4. Rewards are multiplied

The next virtue of Ramadan is that rewards are multiplied. Every good deed in this month has a much greater value than in other months.
In a hadith qudsi, it is mentioned that fasting is a special act of worship in the sight of Allah, and Allah Himself will reward it. This shows how great the reward is for those who fast with sincerity.
Safarfriendly friends, not only fasting, but also charity, tarawih prayers, dhikr, and even feeding people who are breaking their fast, all have extraordinary rewards.
5. A Month of Education and Character Building

Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink. More than that, it is a month of spiritual education and character building.
Fasting trains patience, sincerity, self-control, and empathy towards others. When we feel hungry, we become more sensitive to the conditions of our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate.
Safarfriendly friends, this is the special feature of Ramadan that is often overlooked. It shapes Muslims to be more pious, as stated in the purpose of fasting in QS. Al-Baqarah verse 183, so that we become pious people.
6. Momentum for Change and Personal Transformation

The virtue of Ramadan also lies in its ability to be a turning point in life. Many people begin to migrate, improve their prayers, abandon sin, and draw closer to Allah during this month.
The conducive atmosphere, spirit of togetherness, and numerous studies and worship make it easier to touch the heart. Ramadan seems to be an annual “spiritual reset” for every Muslim.
Dear Safarfriendly friends, do not let Ramadan pass without meaningful change within us. Make this month the beginning of good habits that continue for the next eleven months.
The virtues of Ramadan are numerous and countless. From the revelation of the Quran, the abundance of forgiveness, the presence of Lailatul Qadar, to the multiplied rewards—all of these show that Ramadan is a special gift from Allah to Muslims.
Dear Safarfriendly friends, may we be among those who are able to make the most of this noble month. Let us prepare ourselves from now on, purify our intentions, and welcome Ramadan with hearts full of gratitude.
